Cardiovascular Fluid Mechanics

John Doe
The Combustion Institute

OVERVIEW

The cardiovascular system is rich in fluid mechanical processes. Starting from the simple steady flow of a newtonian fluid through a pipe of constant diameter to that of a pulsatile non-newtonian flow through a distensible tube of varying cross section with bifurcations and bends has many inportant things to be considered from the fluid mechanics standpoint. The heart on the other hand, acting as a non-sucking pulstile positive displacement pump arranged in series offers a wide array of problems of interest to the student of the mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.

DISCUSSIONS

  • It is interesting how a simple curation of materials from the web when strung into a coherent lot can be of so much use....

  • Yes, it builds credibility, and goes hand in hand in reaching a bigger audience, better than any social media because of quality checking of submitted content that has correct information approved before posting hence reliability increases in curation site......

Workshops and Short Courses

1. Lumped Parameter Models
30 Jun 2021  -  04 Jul 2021
Course fees (Professionals) - USD 100
Course fees (Students) - USD 10

In this short course we will go over the electrical analogue approach of modeling the heart and the circulatory system. Hands on sessions for learning CVSIM will be provided. Powerful insights into the aspect of concomitant problems, such as a VSD with an aortic stenosis will be provided.
