Image Intensifiers are light amplifiers that can detect and image objects at extremely low light levels. They are useful for applications such as astronomy, high speed imaging, photon counting and fluorescence lifetime measurement. Thus they can produce high contrast images under dark conditions for example in night-time surveillance applications.
